Valldemossa, Spain, photographed with the Fuji X-T1

On the island of Majorca is the town of Valldemossa famous for a former monastery that was confiscated by the government in 1830 and turned private. Shortly thereafter Chopin and his lover, George Sand, lived there for several months. The monastery and surroundings were ripe with details reflecting the story of its past and present.

So far I have been photographing only with the Fuji X-T1 supplemented occasionally by the Sony RX100-III. This has been working great. The X-T1 kit with four lenses is nice and compact while still providing a complete range of focal lengths and aperture choices.

One more day of this and I will switch over to the Leica M (240) system for a few days.

A goat grazes beneath an orange tree near the town.

The formemonastery and its garden

The monks kept this skull as a reminder of the ephemeral quality of life.

The monks had a large collection of books in their library.
